🌏 In this week’s episode of 'As the AI World Turns' we find Microsoft under scrutiny for watching our every move and its unusual deal that gutted Inflection.AI.
Microsoft’s new AI-infused PCs are set to feature Recall, which takes snapshots of users’ screens and then allows them to scroll through their activity.
The feature raised eyebrows over security concerns and because it would be on automatically with an opt-out option rather than the other way around.
In response, Microsoft has said it will switch the feature to an opt-in model and add additional security measures including encryption of the screenshot data.

Meanwhile, the FTC is reportedly opening an investigation into Microsoft’s March acquihire of Inflection.AI’s founder and most of its staff to determine if it violated antitrust laws.
The company is already being investigated for its investment in OpenAI.
It could be many months before these investigations reach conclusions that may or may not reshape AI’s competitive landscape.

I’m curious - are you planning to buy a CoPilot+ PC? And will you turn on the Recall feature?
